Different ways to show clothing when listing on ebay

I sell on ebay full-time. Here is how I photograph the clothing I sell.

1. A full-sized mannequin. You can buy these for about $100-$200. I named mine "Meg".

2. A hanging mannequin. These have a hollow back. I put a little ribbon on the top of mine and hang it from a nail in the wall. They cost about $20.

4. Dress forms. I have one in beige and another in black. I actually purchased these at Wal-Mart years ago. They don't have the exact ones I purchased but you can find these at most craft stores. They also sell on ebay for about $80.

5. A vinyl back drop. It is faux wood on one side and white on the other. I lay this in a sunny spot on my living room floor. It cost about $40.

6. Poster board! My dollar store has this for 50 cents a sheet. I have about 6 pieces of white and 6 of blue.

White poster board pushed up against my white wall in the office.

7. Several different styles of hangers, hung up on a nail.

  1. I sell a lot of clothing on eBay and haven't purchased a mannequin yet. Do you think it increases your sales? My clothing is usually hanging on a hanger.

It's my first time here so I wanted to say that I also have an eBay blog to help out sellers. Sell on eBay for profit. :-)

  2. Hi Adley! Yes, I think a full mannequin helped my sales. I know she has paid for herself in the last month. Ha.

If you don't already have a dress form, I think they are more versatile and they are less expensive. :)

  3. It depends on how much clothing you sell too. I sell almost all clothing. Before the dress forms, I was photographing my clothing on a hanger or on a sheet on the floor. Ha.

  4. My niche is clothing. I sell around 50-60 items a month.

  5. Then it would pay for itself in just a few months! :) You can probably sell items faster and for a bit more if you display them on a mannequin or dress form.

  6. Thanks for the advice, I purchased one a few hours ago from eBay. It should be here by the end of the week. I hope my sales skyrocket!
