Week in photos - 9/23/14

Don't you love old photos? My mom gave me a memory packet yesterday and it was so fun to look through the stuff.

Our foundation is slowly cracking. Thankfully we have someone coming to fix it this week. There is a really cool concrete mixer downstairs. Pretend I was able to walk downstairs and take a photo of it.

My hair grows so fast. I had about 5" cut just two months ago and it has grown back.

Jamberry! I love, love, love these. These are basically vinyl stickers with glue on the back. You heat up the glue and stick them on. Easy!

Plus, I got 8 new designs this week. One of my Facebook friends had a party that reached $800!

This week I cleaned out my closet. I love to organize.

I sent yet another bag into ThredUp. So far I have made over $300.

And basically I spent that $300 on essential oils. One of my FB friends sells Young Living. I am giving it a try since I am off all my prescription meds. Well...I was off of them completely. Then I had yet another shingles flare up and am now taking shingles meds. But I am off my sleeping pills (finally...it took 2 months to stop these).

 Aren't they pretty?

Since I have met my health insurance deductible for the year, I am trying to fit everything in before December. Which meant allergy tests last week. I am allergic to 14 out of the 16 things that I was tested for. I am not allergic to feathers nor cotton. I am opting not to go for the four years of weekly allergy shots that were recommended though.

These. are. the. best. EVER. Oh my. They are gluten free and have no milk. And they taste amazing. They cost about $5 a box (5 bars per box) at my grocery store which is half hour away. Amazon has them for about $4 a box with free shipping. Love that!

And the last photo was taken from the dining room table. We were sitting there and suddenly very loud birds were on our porch.

My week in photos - 9/15/14

Happy Monday! It is cold but sunny here in west central PA. It truly feels like autumn and the leaves have started to change colors here.

Today I have a quick doctor appointment with my family doctor to follow-up on my shingles. The medicine has worked great and I have less of a rash and the bumps are less welt-y. Tomorrow is my RSD doctor appointment and Wednesday I go for an allergy test.

Squeezing bottles of shampoo & conditioner while showering hurts my wrists. I decided to put it in an empty pump bottle I had. It turns out my conditioner is WAY thicker than I though. This took forever.

It has been chilly. I wrapped up in a blanket, gloves, a hat and scarf so I could hang out on the hammock.

Any ideas of what kind of bug this is? He was on our back porch.

And another odd bug on the back porch the same day. It was like a spider moth. He was large. Yuck.

I adore my husband. This week he made rice. I don't even eat brown rice. We literally had enough rice for 30 people.

I still adore Jamberry!

A friend posted this on Facebook.

My week in Photos - September 6, 2014

Hi everyone! Can you believe it is September? This year is flying by. I am thankful for the sunshine that allows me to sit outside. It has been hot here but I am not complaining. I love it. The cold weather will be here soon enough.

How about this crazy outfit? I sat on the basement stairs while the hubby organized. Notice the red & green headband? I found it in the Christmas stuff.
I love that we live in a rural area where our neighbors visit on tractors.

This made me very happy yesterday.

The hubby (on the far left) leads worship at two different churches. This worship team was asked to perform at a health fair yesterday. I felt good enough to go.

I packed up some care packages this week. Several girls in our church are freshmen in college. I remember being in college and loved getting packages.

Cable had "The Frog Prince" on and I watched the entire thing. It was really, really silly but I kept watching.

Getting ready for "Thanksmas" which is my family's combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year's wrapping theme is red & green traditional papers.

My doctor taped up my knee and wrist on Thursday. And...no photos...but I have shingles! I woke up yesterday with a really itchy mess on my back. It was like big red mosquito bites. Today I emailed a photo to this doctor and he said to have it checked out. One ER trip later, I was diagnosed with shingles. I am contagious for the next two weeks.

I am so thankful that the Steelers played today. The ER and pharmacy were both empty. We were in & out so fast!

OUR tractor for sale! It was my father-in-law's and we are hoping it sells by the first snow. We don't want to have to store this in our basement if we can help it.

Loving Jamberry!

My week in photos - 8/28/14

At my weekly doctor's appointment yesterday my doctor said I could 'push it' a bit. I baked today. I dropped an egg but who cares. I made these huge cupcakes. They are going to the neighbors. Mint chocolate chip and peanut butter chocolate.

Another bag for ThredUp. This is my 5th bag to them. My 3rd & 4th bag are processing. I send in used items and they give me money. It takes about a month from the time it is sent in until you get money.
We got a "new" (to us) van. We had two older vans with over 120,000 miles on them. We had planned on running our two older vans until they stopped working. That was the plan. And then we realized that we could get more for them now and upgrade. We are selling both of those (the first one sold this past weekend and I will list the second tomorrow) and upgraded to a 2008 with only 50,000 miles on it. It is the newest, lowest mileage vehicle we have ever had. Fancy!

My husband drove to NJ to pick this one up on Monday. Thankfully he borrowed a car dolly and I didn't have to go.
The hubby woke up at 5am to travel 10+ hours (round trip) on Monday. He got back Monday evening and came home to a leaking fridge. "We" worked on it a few hours and I am thrilled to say that it is working again! Plus, we now have a very clean fridge. I didn't realize how much dust collects in the coils. Ewwww.

On Tuesday we had dirt (fill) dumped in our driveway. Our driveway goes completely around the house. It is like a gravel mote. Every year we (the husband) put more gravel down since it disappears. It kind of sinks into the ground.

This year my husband had a friend scrape up all the gravel and put fill down. Hopefully that will pack and then the gravel won't disappear as fast.

I love this funny man. He worked in the pouring rain for hours. Plus, he dances with me in the rain.

Here is our friend "Goose". This real name is Randy but almost everyone out here has an odd nickname. He ran the John Deere and my husband ran our tractor.

We had two tractors parked on the side of our home for a few days.

I love this view! This is the view you see from the hammock on the front porch.
I ordered my favorite mascara from Amazon last week and used it yesterday. I hardly ever wear make-up at this point. I was going to the doctor's and so I put it on. I LOVE this mascara. It makes my lashes super long and doesn't clump. I have purchased more expensive mascara and didn't like it half as good as this one.

Best part? It is $4.77 with free shipping on Amazon. Yup, a full size mascara for under $5. It is Maybelline's lash stiletto in soft black. I have used "very black" and it works great too. But it is like fifty cents more and I am cheap. It is over $7 at Wal-Mart and you have to drive there. Amazon rocks!

Here is how good it works...The doctor had me doing high tech eye movements wearing a eye sensor. The eye sensor kept thinking my LASHES were my pupils because of how big they looked. The doctor told me not to wear mascara next time. Oops.

Last week I had a mole biopsied. I won't show you the actual spot because it is gross. We got my results yesterday and there is no cancer. Thank you Jesus! I didn't think it was cancer but the results took forever (a week). I confess that during that week I had a lot of doubts and worries. I may have even googled melanoma once or twice.

The printed Band-Aids were on clearance for half the price of plain Band-Aids. I have worn Monsters, Inc and Sponge Bob this week.

And this one is funny. I tie dyed a shirt in turmeric. It was an old white shirt I was donating anyway. It took all my wrist strength to do this and I hurt for a day afterward.

Here is before I washed it. Pretty awesome, right?

Even the "after" looks great. Except, it smelled of turmeric. I washed it a second time and it still smelled. Plus, it lost most of its color after the second wash. Yeah, tie dying with turmeric isn't a great idea.
