Recent Ebay Sales - 12/8/12

Well, day 2 of going vegan is just about finished. I am doing well and haven't had any meat nor animal product in two days. Ha! I cannot imagine I am not going to gain weight from trying this for a month. I use to eat grilled chicken with BBQ sauce (about 150 calories). I now eat wheat pasta and sauce (about 400 calories).

Anyway...here is what has been selling on ebay.

1. Escada silk blouse, sold for $27.

2. Vintage Laura Ashley blue floral dress, sold for $24. Laura Ashley floral dresses are a decent seller on ebay. Look for the ones made in Great Britain.

3. Vintage 80% angora sweater, sold for $39. Angora sweaters usually bring $20 and up on ebay. Look for the ones with more than 60%. The fuzzier the better!

4. Peruvian Connection long skirt, sold for $35. This is a great brand to re-sell. I once sold a lot of 3 t-shirts for over $70.

5. Talbots linen dress, sold for $17.

6. BCBG white eyelet dress, sold for $35. Sold within hours of listing!

7. Woolrich "blanket" jacket, sold for $45.

8. Sterling Silver charm bracelet. This was my own personal bracelet. I never wore it and it seemed silly just to collect something so I could say I collect something. Ha! It sold for $202.

9. Judith Hart red skirt, sold for $23. I had this listed for under $15 for weeks and it wasn't touched. Then my sale ended and it went back up to $22.99. It then sold. Gotta love the random-ness of ebay!

10. Talbots pima cotton sweater, sold for $25.

11. Chico's Travelers gaucho pants, sold for $25.

12. Boden gray floral dress, sold for $33.

13. Laura Ashley floral dress, sold for $27.

14. Flax overalls, sold for $27. Sold within hours of listing.

15-25. About a week ago I was at a thrift I usually don't frequent. It isn't a great thrift and I normally don't find anything there. But I was in the area and stopped in. They were putting out a TON of Flax pieces. I gathered them all and I think there were about two dozen. I got most for $2-$3 and a few I paid full price ($5!).

They sold for $15-$30 a piece and were super easy to wash, dry and list. Most had atleast wash wear and pilling but some even had stains and marks. For about 2 hours of work, I made $250. I wish I could do that every day!

26. H&M sparkle dress with little ruffles, sold for $30. If this dress wasn't so itchy on my skin, I would have totally kept it!

27. Talbots wool long skirt, sold for $25.

28. Yet another Laura Ashley dress, sold for $35.

29. Anthropologie's brand "Saturday Sunday" lounge pants, sold for $22.

30. Alberto Makali crinkle top, sold for $22.

31. Coldwater Creek skirt, sold for $20. This may have been another keeper for me if it was my size. Thankfully it wasn't since I don't need a skirt. I already own one and never get the chance to wear it.

32. Eddie Bauer velvet dress, sold for $39. The size (XXL) helped this sell for a bit more than usual.

33. J. Crew white halter dress, sold for $30.

34. J. Jill "sweatshirt" dress, sold for $20. Sold within hours which surprised me because this was a tiny size (XS).

Mostly Vegan

As I am sitting here, I am eating chocolate. It is Ghirardelli dark chocolate that I won at a ladies brunch this past weekend. I completely forgot about it until now. Dark chocolate is good for you, right? (Even if you eat half the bag? Probably not!)

Last night my hubby & I watched the documentary "Vegucated". In case you have never heard of it, it is a short film where three people from New York (who love and eat meat) are challenged to go Vegan for 6 weeks. The film follows their journey.

My diet mainly consists of chicken and anything I can microwave. I have little to no patience when it comes to food. I make my hubby food a week at a time and put it in little tupperware containers (his diet consists of chicken, pork, beef and eggs). That means I just have to make food for one - me. And I am not spending an hour making an entire meal for me.

I eat red meat only 2x-4x a year and it usually makes my stomach sick.

But...I have decided to try a mostly vegan diet. I say "mostly vegan" since I have about 40 Isagenix shakes left and I adore them. They fill me up and have great nutrients. Unfortunately they also contain a bit of milk.

Past the Isagenix shakes, I am going Vegan for the next month. I start tomorrow. Why? I am not going to sit here and preach about animal cruelty. My decision has nothing to do with animals (sorry cows!).

My reason is simple - I feel awful. My stomach has been getting sick almost every day. There was a time when I was sensitive/allergic to milk casein (the protein in milk) and I think it is bothering me again. I know my iron levels are below normal (this was due to the fact that I tried to give blood again...and failed...again). I am exhausted but I am not sleeping well.

So...starting TOMORROW (12/7/12), I go "mostly Vegan". I am going to stop eating meat and anything dairy (except the bit of milk in the Isgenix shakes). Which means I have to give up cheese and chocolate.

This has nothing to do with my weight (I have been a steady 140-142lbs for months now) but rather has to do with the way I feel.

I went shopping today and picked up veggies, fruits, whole wheat pasta, vegan spaghetti sauce and Luna bars. I have plans on adding bagels and natural almond butter to my list. I am going to print up a list of food choices for each meal and then stick to it! Hopefully at the end of the month, I have more energy and feel better.

70 degrees in December?

I am LOVING this crazy weather. I live in Pennsylvania and a rural part on top of the Laurel Highlands. It is usually about 20-30 degrees in December and we usually have atleast 6" of snow on the ground.

But, for some unknown reason, it was 70 degrees today! I had the A/C on in the car. I wore a lightweight t-shirt & jeans today and didn't need a jacket.

I am loving global warming ;)

Of course tomorrow it is supposed to be 38 degrees. Ha!

14. Lot of CVS wrinkle creams. I paid 75 cents each for these and a lot of 5 sold for $24.

Today I am listing the 40 items I purchased this past week (20 of which are made by Flax!) and baking for the ladies brunch tomorrow at church. I am making red velvet cupcakes and sugar cookies in the shape of snowflakes.

Advent Conspiracy

I love my church. My hubby & I go to a smaller Grace Brethren church. The pastor is about my age and he rocks. Seriously.

Yesterday we sang two songs and then the pastor got up and showed this video.

He spoke a bit and then we broke up into groups and prayed. And then church was over. It was very moving.

I am a list maker. I am a shopper. I am a gift giver. And so this video really hit home.

I would highly recommend sharing this video with your family & friends. It is a good one.

Happy Thanksmas!

Part of my family comes every year for Thanksgiving. We do Christmas at Thanksgiving and I call it Thankmas. We opened gifts, ate WAY too much food, walked a bit and had a great time.

Since I won't see them for Christmas, I decorate the house early. Here are a some photos of the decorated living room. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
