Surprise items to sell on ebay...

It started when I found a used Ralph Lauren blazer with a giant hole on the sleeve. I noticed the buttons were pretty and knew they would sell. I took it up to the counter and they gave it to me for free. Since then, I have done pretty well with Ralph Lauren button lots.  

Here are a few of my recent sales:

1. Lot of 10 (2 big & 8 small) Ralph Lauren horsehead buttons, sold for $33. 

2. Lot of 6 gold-tone metal Ralph Lauren crest buttons, sold for $20. 

3. Lot of 9 (2 big & 7 small - two of which had issues) Ralph Lauren horsehead buttons, sold for $27.

And another surprise! I had a Ralph Lauren sweater jacket in an odd size (petite medium). I listed it for $34. It didn't sell. I tried again. It still didn't sell. Here is what it looked like before I chopped it up.

So I cut off the buttons & crest. The buttons were the gold-tone ones above. The crest sold for $34 this morning. So the buttons & crest sold for $54 and were SO much easier to list & package!

So if you see a worn-out blazer or sweater at the thrift, check to see if the item has buttons to sell! You never know :) 

Top 10 Ebay Sales - 12/7/2013

Yesterday I spent most of the day in bed. My knee has been...not good. Last night I baked 10 dozen cookies for Sunday and this morning I decorated them. 

Here is a small sampling of the cut-out sugar cookies: 

Tomorrow our church has their annual Christmas cookie swap. Everyone brings a few dozen cookies to church. After the sermon, the youth group sets up tables and displays the cookies. Then you can donate a few dollars and box up a variety to take home.

Here are a few things that sold this week.

1. Vintage white fur muff, sold for $41. This was a gift from my parents many years ago. I loved it, used it and then didn't. I was surprised it went for that much! 

2. LOGO by Lori Goldstein (a QVC brand) bright pink cocoon top, sold for $29.

 

3. Vintage popcorn machine. These are great for roasting coffee. I picked it up for $1.99 at the thrift and it sold for $33. 

4. Lena Rewell (a brand from Finland) mohair cape, sold for $65 to a buyer in Japan. 

5. Lauren Ralph Lauren dress, sold for $37. 

6. Anthropologie "Elevenses" brand velvet skirt, sold for $45. 

7. Flax's "Splaying Skirt", sold for $29. I always try to look up the line names of the Flax pieces. Here is a great website to look up your pieces. 

8. Soft Surroundings denim skirt, sold for $35. 

9. Lauren Ralph Lauren striped jacket, sold for $83. 

10. This Chico's hoodie sold for $51 with 8 bids. Crazy!

My week in photos (and words)...

This week has been a bit slower for me. I'm trying not to overdo it since my knee is still having pain. The good news is I am seeing a new knee surgeon NEXT WEEK. I'm counting down the days like it is Christmas.

Is anyone else super, duper excited about The Sound of Music tonight? I have been braiding my hair all week.

Last June we ordered some trees from the Arbor Day Foundation. And then kind of forgot about them. They arrived on Saturday. We are now the proud owners of 10 Dogwood...sticks. The hubby was good enough to plant them. We do not believe they will grow but it is fun to look at our baby sticks.

My family exchanges gifts at Thanksgiving and we call it Thanksmas. One of our gifts this year was house numbers. We asked for the them since this isn't something we would normally splurge on. Aren't they fancy?

And guess what we did splurge on...A new dryer & washer set! We were sitting in the ER (long story but I have/had pluerosy) on Thanksgiving and had some time. I told the hubby to distract me and he mentioned that Home Depot was having an amazing deal on washer & dryers.

We knew our dryer was having some troubles - some loud clanking sounds. And ours was purchased in 1991 making it 22 years old. The life cycle for the stackable kind is 12-15 years.

We purchased Home Depot gift cards at our local grocery store which gives us 60 gallons of free gas. And we ordered the online.

Yesterday we got the pedestals. Aren't they pretty? Haha. Our new washer and dryer won't show up for a week though.

On the ebay front...Even with going slower than usual (stupid knee!) I managed to hit 600 items in my ebay store.

 

While listing on ebay, I watch Netflix. Netflix recently added another season of What Not To Wear which is one of my favorite shows. I could totally be this girl. I "get" her love of color and fun. One lady mentioned that she likes to choose clothing that allows her to roll in the grass. I love that girl as well.

 

And lastly...some fun cupcakes! These were another Thankmas gift. Last night I made 24 cupcakes & today I'm working on 6 dozen cookies.

I was asked to make snacks for a youth group thing. Our youth group goes "downtown" and invites the neighbor kids to play with them at a rec center. In addition to ping pong, games and crafts, our church serves a dinner. I have volunteered before and loved it. There were kids everywhere - about 50 neighborhood kids. There isn't a message or Bible study. It is just our kids playing with theirs.

Top 10 Ebay Sales - 11/29/13

Happy Black Friday! I hope everyone had a great time shopping today. I went thrifting because I was out of unlisted ebay inventory. I love being completely out of inventory. It makes me feel very productive. Ha.

Remember back in September when I purchased about 600-700 items of clothing? Well, I finished listing the last of the vintage dresses last night. I have sold about 200 items and have more than tripled my investment. The other 400 or so are still for sale. 

Here are some of the things that have sold this week: 

1. Vintage Lilly Pulitzer dress, sold for $90.

2. Ralph Lauren silk blend sweater, sold for $40. 

3. Mulberry leather purse, sold for $100. 

4. Ann Taylor LOFT lace dress, sold for $40 to a buyer in Canada. 

5. Logo by Lori Goldstein (sold on QVC) cocoon top, sold for $35. I found four of these same tops in different colors and picked them all up.

6. Cupcake International brand long duster, sold for $31. I picked this up while in NY last week for $3. I got back to PA, listed it and it sold to a buyer in New York. Haha. 

7. Elie Tahari lace dress, sold for $36 to a buyer in Russia. 

8. Ann Taylor LOFT plaid skirt, sold for $29. 

9. BCBG Max Azria bubble dress, sold for $63 to a buyer in Canada. 

10. Neiman Marcus cashmere sweater which had a flaw, sold for $29. I purchased a lot of 15 cashmere sweaters on ebay for $80 shipped a few weeks ago. I have sold 2 so far and have made back almost all of my investment. And I still have 13 cashmere sweaters left! 

And a bonus: 

Ralph Lauren button lot, sold for $27. I snipped these off of a blazer I got for free while in New York last week. The blazer had a giant rip on the sleeve but I knew I could sell the buttons.

Top Ebay Sales - 11/22/13

This past week I was visiting my family in New York. The hubby & I had a great time.  I hadn't seen some of my family in four years!

I listed all of my ebay items for 7 day auctions last Friday so nothing would sell while we were away. Great plan...except everything ended today! I sold over 60 items today which means I will have to package a ton of stuff tonight!

6. Pendleton blue wool coat, sold for $71.

7. Diane Von Fursternberg blazer, sold for $40. 

8. Lululemon skort, sold for $60. 

9. Ralph Lauren floral top, sold for $27. 

10. Vintage black leather boots, sold for $30.
