Fall Foliage Week, Day 7

Today was our last day off for the week. It was another dreary day but thankfully the rain held off until we finished our walk. We walked on one of my favorite trails. It is just outside of Blairsville, PA. You literally feel like you are in another country on this trail. It feels like something out of Africa.

I hope you enjoyed the week of fall foliage! We work for a straight week at the retirement community starting tomorrow morning and I won't be home again until the 21st of October. By that time most of the leaves are off the trees. I wish autumn lasted longer!

Fall Foliage Week, Day 6

It is raining, it is pouring! After several gorgeous days in a row, I guess I won't let rainy, dreary day spoil it. I made cookies, read a good book, finally got rid of a killer headache and watched a few episodes of Ugly Betty on Netflix.

Tomorrow we go back to work at the retirement community but on the way back we will be stopping at one of the prettiest spots around to walk & take photos. Tomorrow will be the last day of the fall foliage photos.

Fall Foliage Week, Day 5

Today's walk brought us to Vintondale. We continued on the Ghost Town trails. We left later in the day and so the lighting was not great but enjoy the photos since tomorrow is supposed to bring rain.

Fall Foliage Week, Day 4

Today I went shopping at a few local thrifts and found a bunch of stuff...for me! Ha-ha. I also found a few things for ebay as well.

Afterwards the hubby & I walked on the Dilltown trail. It was in the 70's and it was perfect for a brisk walk.

Fall Foliage Week, Day 3

Last evening my husband & I walked on another of the "Rails to Trails" in our area. This one was from Wehrum to Vintondale - two tiny towns around here. We started the trail with a hike up a boney pile. A boney pile (also called a spoil tip or pit heap) is: "pile built of accumulated spoil - the overburden removed during coal and ore mining. These waste materials are generally composed of shale, as well as smaller quantities of carboniferous sandstone and various other residues. Spoil tips are not formed of slag, but in some areas they are referred to as slag heaps." (Thank you Wikipedia)

We then walked around 2 miles and the weather was gorgeous. It was October 9 and the weather was over 80 degrees. That is very rare for Pennsylvania, especially since we had our first snowflakes last week.

Fall Foliage Week, Day 2

Last night I went for a second walk. My hubby was at rehearsal for the worship team at church and then for the band where he is a lead singer and I didn't want to just sit and watch TV (which is what I usually do). I walked up to the stop sign at the end of our road. And then I ran down.

One of our neighbors has a dog which seems to know when I am going for a walk and joins me. His name is Heinz and he is super friendly.





These next two photos are the view from the side of our yard. Our next door neighbor is a farmer which a large piece of property.





After church today hubby & I both took a nap. I am up first and when he gets up we will go for a bike ride or perhaps a hike. I'll post photos later.

Fall Foliage Week, Day 1

For the next 6 days, my husband & I have off. We are back at home in Pennsylvania and the foliage is just starting to peak. We went for a walk today on one of the many "Rails to Trails" in the area and I wanted to post a few photos. I will be doing this throughout the next 6 days, a different trail walked/hiked for six days. Feel free to join me!

Today we went to Red Mill. It is about a 15 minute drive from our home but it is worth it.

What do you collect?

I have a friend who collects toothpick holders. She finds them while on vacation, in antique stores and since people knows she collects, they gift them to her.

I don't collect too many things. As a teenager, I collected antique and vintage books. I'm not exactly sure of what happened to them but I don't own too many books anymore.

In fact, the only thing I collect is small and doesn't clutter up the house. I collect sterling silver charms for my charm bracelet. My husband bought it for me a few years back. Charms are inexpensive and there are so many kinds!

I have been to 39 states and have 39 state charms. Here is a photo of my charm bracelet:



There is the birthday cake which my mom got me for my 30th birthday last year:



The charm to remind me of the RV my husband & I purchased a few years ago. We thought we were RV people. We are not. We are home people.



My name means "honey bee" in Greek and I love bees because of it.



And my home state of New York. There are vintage rhinestone buttons which I clipped off a skirt and put on the bracelet. You can see one of those in the photo below.



I love my bracelet. It is wearable and doesn't take up much space.
